Row Clinic with Laura Kocourek at Tamalpais CrossFit on September 20th from 12-2, $40 per person, limited to 16 people. Reserve your spot today on the sign up sheet at TCF.

Why Come to the Learn to Row Clinic?
Rowing is a repetitive, loaded movement. Similar to doing repetitive deadlifts, correct form is absolutely necessary. Laura’s clinic will include a core strength segment as well as a mobility segment to protect your body from overuse injuries – this will help ensure that you are reaching your full potential during physical activities. Lastly, Laura will instruct basic and proper rowing technique followed by an erging WOD (team workout)!

A Little About Laura:
Laura began rowing in San Francisco, CA in 2004. In high school, she competed in the World Indoor Rowing Championships in 2007 and won the junior lightweight division. She was invited to Junior National Team Selection Camp in the same year. She was recruited to row at Saint Mary’s College of California – graduated class of 2011. Rowed in the varsity boat all four years and was a senior leader on the team. Began coaching summer “learn to row” camps in 2008, and has been coaching ever since. She has coached at Saint Mary’s College of CA, No.5 ranked University of Virginia and currently coaching the Cal Lightweight Women’s Rowing team.

She began coaching at CrossFit gyms in the form of erg clinics a year before she joined her first CrossFit box in October 2012. She has coached clinics at the former CrossFit Valencia, CrossFit Skybox, CrossFit Charlottesville, Hercules CrossFit and Tamalpais CrossFit.
“I began coaching rowing clinics because I saw a huge need in the CrossFit community. CrossFit athletes compete and train at such a high level of intensity, but most crossfitters row incorrectly. Not only can I teach you how to improve your erg score, but how to protect your body from injury by giving you the tools you will need to be a healthy athlete. For the clinic, I would recommend dressing in tight fitting exercise clothes (to prevent shirts or shorts getting stuck in the wheels of the seat on the erg), bringing a water bottle, eating a light meal beforehand as the class will be about 2 hours long. Be ready to learn! I have had a lot of athletes ask if they can have a copy of the core strength workout so maybe bring a notebook or just take a picture of the workout after I write it out :)”
